Jewel of the SouthĪ tight knit and aesthetically pleasing bar space with artisan, hand-crafted signature dishes. We sincerely loved spending the evening here with friends, taking in the lively music and learning a bit of why locals love to call this place home. Bacchanal is a local treasure in the Bywater neighborhood and a must-see if you find yourself in New Orleans. That raid began a year-long quest for legal permits to host their nightly backyard parties. Initially Bacchanal did not have the permission or the permits to be an outdoor kitchen and jazz club seven nights a week, and was eventually raided by the city. Bacchanal played an important role as a gathering place for the locals after Katrina and became an epic part of the city's recovery. Pick out your choice bottle of wine, grab some premium cheeses and take a seat in Bacchanal’s outdoor courtyard to enjoy live music as the sun sets.īacchanal started as a little wine shop on the far east corner of the New Orleans Bywater but slowly emerged as an eclectic Bywater watering hole. This place at its core is Mediterranean living in a New Orleans style. This is a destination you’ll want to pull all the stops for, which is why we recommend planning your trip well in advance and opting to stay at a hotel or resort that will have everything you need to make it the trip of your dreams. We only wish we had more time to take it all in, but of course, we cannot wait to get back to Bermuda one day and again cheers with a Dark and Stormy in hand.Ĭonveniently located in the mid-Atlantic, Bermuda is less than a two-hour flight from most east coast gateways, Bermuda is perfect for getaways year-round. It was incredibly interesting to be in such a tropical place with a tradition of afternoon tea and pictures of Queen Elizabeth everywhere. We loved learning about the island's architecture, culture, and history. Once we had spent just 24 hours there, Bermuda already had our hearts! We were amazed at the crystal blue water and pink sand beaches scattered all over the island. We cannot believe it’s taken us this long to get to this gem in the middle of the Atlantic.īermuda is unexpected, underrated, and extraordinary.
The archipelago has more to offer than we could’ve ever imagined. Honestly we never really considered making the trip out to Bermuda until recently, but we are so glad we made the spontaneous decision to go. And when it felt a little too hot, it was simple to book a Lyft or catch a ride on the many biker-cabs in the historic center. I also appreciated how incredibly easy it was to get around the entire downtown area as the city is very walkable. The city felt like one fully interconnected whole. Everything flowed from indoors to outdoors and in-between courtyards. Large open cafes and antique buildings spilling into the streets gave the feeling that the French Quarter is a very tight knit community. The vibe made me at times feel like I was walking around a European city. I didn’t realize that New Orleans had such a European feel. My favorite surprise was the architecture. It’s way different than what I had pictured in my mind.
And really, I didn’t know much else about it. I have never been here before, but coming to NOLA, I didn’t have much of an impression of the city other than what I’ve heard about Mardi Gras. I didn’t know what to expect from New Orleans. New Orleans Should be at the TOP of Your Travel List
